Portuguese Attorney-General starts criminal investigation against Moody's, Fitch and Standard & Poor's

Regarding this info, the portuguese Attorney-General starts an investigation against three major financial rating agencies – Moody's, Fitch and Standard & Poor's – following a complaint presented by four portuguese economists from University of Coimbra and Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, from Lisbon.

Several European countries also begun criminal investigations against the same rating agencies – Moody's, Fitch and Standard & Poor's –, like Spain and Greece.

The European Union, nonetheless, doesn’t have a position about rating agencies, even if they all are based outside its common space, conditioning every financial transaction of their own countries.
